The Site
Nestled within the Pyrenees mountain range of northern Spain, The Pines explores a contemporary approach to low-impact hospitality, where architecture is carefully dispersed throughout the landscape rather than imposed upon it.
Design
The proposal comprises a collection of individually positioned guest cabins, each orientated to frame views of the surrounding forest, mountains and changing seasonal light. Elevated lightly above the forest floor, the cabins are connected by a network of winding paths that encourage guests to experience the site as a journey through nature.
The architectural language is deliberately restrained. Dark timber cladding allows the buildings to recede into the landscape, creating a subtle contrast with the textures and colours of the woodland. Large openings frame panoramic views while maintaining a strong sense of privacy and seclusion.
At the heart of the development sits a shared hospitality pavilion containing reception, dining and wellness facilities. The masterplan balances communal and private experiences, creating opportunities for retreat, relaxation and connection with the surrounding environment.
Developed as a conceptual hospitality proposal, The Pines explores how sensitive site planning, sustainable construction and immersive guest experiences can combine to create a destination that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in its landscape.
